“The pornographic book functioned as an interface where interior space, subjective thought, physical pleasure, and imagination unfolded for the first time with the practice of individual reading. The experience of reading demanded a silent corner, but also created a breach with the surrounding space: swallowed up by non-sacred books, the reader developed a virtual and emotional space that separated her from the surrounding physical environment.” Paul B. Preciado

Dorota Gawęda and Eglė Kulbokaitė present the second iteration of an installation and performance YGRG 14X: reading with a single hand, initially conceived for the 13th Baltic Triennial

The performative installation investigates the act of reading as an intimate experience, holding the potentiality to become public performance through the « outlouding » of words. YGRG is a sonar-social architecture of shared curiosity and synchronicity, it is a live instagram hangout, a self-conscious aesthetic chamber for intimacy and discovery. YGRG addresses feminist inspired theory and fiction, technology-driven emancipation and discursiveness of space. Reading together, pronouncing the words out loud, we emphasize the relationship of the body to text and the collective body, realising the connectedness to other sources, resources, leaks and leads, we are no longer sidelined or downplayed.
