Hong Kong based artist Chen Pin Tao presents his second solo show at Sedentary Enslavement. Comprised of four digital prints, Chen presents the works hanging from the large fluorescent grow lights that dominate and illuminate the space. Choosing to print front and back, the images are rich with imaginative content and layered visual imagery. The prints backsides are subtle in their need to be poetically analyzed— moths in flight against a deep black background—while the front side simultaneously requests further investigation. Each print has a text that accompanies it. One reads, “Just remain in the center, watching, and then forget that you are there”, perhaps alluding to Zen or Taoist connotations. Needless to say, this show will surely leave you with a lingering sense of the romantic.
