For one night only, three Miami-raised artists will take over Mango’s Tropical Cafe on Ocean Drive in South Beach, Miami. Natalia Arias, Audrey Gair and Marines Montalvo bring painting, sculpture, film, sound performance and costume design celebrating Miami’s Latin dance culture will be incorporated into Mango’s routine programming of all night live dance performances. Presented by BFI, Percolate Anything You Want to Call It will bring contemporary art into the club at the heart of the nation’s party city.

The show will commence with a live sound performance by Arias from 2-8pm. Her experimental soundscapes detail the history of Miami through the pivotal times of the 1960s-80s, which encompasses the years her mother and father came to the US from Belize and Cuba respectively, concluding with the Miami Drug War. Upstairs in the Vodou Room, Arias will be screening a trailer-style film also about the Miami Drug War, following the life of fictional female drug lord, Curly Sue.

Working in close collaboration, Gair and Montalvo will outfit themselves and Mango’s own dancers in costumes that combine their interests in fashion, art, and dance. The club’s dance floor will become a gallery, with paintings and sculptures by the artists as well. Both artist’s works are reverent of low brow, youthful Miami and Latin American aesthetics, and portrays a uniquely female point of view as both grapple with their role as consumers and artists. Creating work specifically for the historic Mango’s club venue, both Gair and Montalvo’s work concentrate on themes of exhibitionism and objectification, both relishing in the power of young female eroticism and exposing its often consequent gloom.
