Screening: 'Idol (idle)' by Yannick Val Gesto

Idol (idle) is a video piece where iconic, idolized stereotypes enter a state of awareness. The characters on display are nothing but present. An awakening invalidated by the imaginary world in which these figures exist. Where beauty arises from the acceptance of what is. Valve's Source Engine/Garry's Mod was used for the in-game recordings. A piece of software with a rich history within the PC gaming community. The video's melodramatic tone is highlighted by the soundtrack and outdated aesthetic.
