Juvenilia, poster and publicity image
ROOM E-10 27 at Center is pleased to present Juvenilia, a two-person show featuring new video, sculpture, drawing and painting by Beth Collar and Eoghan Ryan whose practices individually play out fraught relationships to patriarchy and the hegemony of authorship.
The point of departure for Juvenilia (meaning a work created when young) was a shared interest in the potential of reperforming, reanimating and repurposing the interior lives of their younger teenage selves. Using this hybrid figure of the teenage fan and its inherent failure to attain what they term as “total being” or a complete embodiment of the desired image, the artists have developed work that dredges up the hidden structures of power behind these one sided relationships.
