Sasha Kurmaz made a dense, crude and oppressive exhibition in the oxyd. The graffitis with which he covered the walls in the space have different layers. Some of them are traditional amateur inscriptions that can be found on the walls of sleeping arrays in Kiev. Some of them are anarchist slogans and some subcultural graffiti tags. The photos bring the space to another level. The paintings are reminiscent of an abandoned or occupied house, the photographs open the whole, are partly poetic, sometimes violent, take up the architecture, but lead the viewer far out of this room. All these photos were taken at different times over the past 8 years, mostly in Kiev and around, but also there are some shots from the Eastern part of Ukraine where the war is still going on.
The exhibition is the result of the residency program at Villa Sträuli together with Felix Oehmann.
