‘Throw me into hell and I’ll find a way to enjoy it’ is a quote by Japanese Buddhist Ikkyū Sōjun – an eccentric monk from the fifteenth century who became renowned for his vulgar poetry, hedonism and iconoclastic stance against the institutionalisation of enlightenment.
The exhibition consists of two portraits of fictional artists who discuss their individual practices. The works, which portray a near future context, speculate the violence found in creative freedom.
